What happened
I have seen many complaints about Scottish power on face book and thought I never got anywhere with them so what can I do now? My daughter rented my flat and could not cope with the electric controls for the heating. She called out engineer from Scottish power and the issue was never resolved! Anyway her electric was issued via a key, all well and good one thinks no hefty bills because one uses what is placed in monetary value on the key. Well suffice to say my daughter moved elsewhere. I put money on the key to get the flat ready for renting and did not get electric. I was on the phone for god knows as no one could tell me anything. I am the landlord and could not rent the flat out until whatever the issue was solved? I asked them to send me the bill, well I almost fell through the floor; £1400! They could not tell me what it was for but I had to pay because I was loosing money with an empty flat. Number one it was not my bill and number two the electric is issued on a key - pay as you go! I was livid at the time but I was working down south and coud'nt spend time chasing Scottish power because of time constraints and getting the flat steam cleaned and ready for new tenants. This all occurred a couple of years ago. Now I am retired I feel I must raise the issue because they took money not owing and never gave me an explanation of why they sent me a bill for £1400! People like myself cannot be bullied and pushed around and held to ransome by a company I don't care how big they are! Something needs to be done soon as pensioners could be treated the same way!
What I wish had happened
The company could have given a satisfactory helpful outcome instead of using bullying tactics, they were taking money off the key for a bill that did not exist! I never got an explanation or apology. Ok they knocked £60 off the bill but that was because I had paid most of the £1400 with £60 to finish and I told them I have paid almost all you can let me off with the last £60. But in reality I should never of paid it! I had no choice! I was loosing money on the unrented flat so they held me over a barrel.
