A customer experience about Morrisons

What happened

On 14th December I was cycling along Bishop Road in Bristol. Part way along the road is a pinch point outside a school. There is clear signage showing traffic travelling up the hill must give way, give priority to traffic travelling down the hill. I was cycling down the hill and a Morrison’s delivery van was travelling towards me. The van was obliged to stop and had plenty of time to do so but did not. When I challenged the driver he told me he didn’t have to as “cyclists don’t pay no tax”. He not only broke the law but has an appalling attitude towards other road users. We were outside a school so I let him go as I didn’t want it to escalate with kids about. Had I been running a camera I would have sent the footage to the police. I’ve been corresponding with Morrison’s via Twitter direct message and am being told the matter is being dealt with but I can’t be given any more detail due to GDPR. I asked for a summary of the outcome to ensure something is being done but keep getting the GDPR thrown back. I’ve asked which part of the GDPR legislation prevents Morrison’s from giving me a summary. It now comes to pass the people I’ve been exchanging messages with are not in any way GDPR experts and seem to be hiding behind it. Please tell your employees not to assume they’re experts in a field in which they’re clearly not and please explain why Morrison’s cannot give me a summary of the outcome and which part of the current GDPR legislation prevents them from doing so. You recruit drivers who know the rules of the road and adhere to them. Tell your employees to take complaints seriously and don’t pretend to be GDPR experts.
