What happened

Today I rang the know How team to question a direct debit coming from my account and has been coming out since 2014, according to my bank whom I have also contacted. I thought it could be one of the many items I have bought from Curry's in the past like my TV, my fridge or even my washing machine. But seen as I lost the receipt, I couldn't remember which one. When speaking to one of their advisors, he told me the name on the account was different to mine so I told them them the name of my ex partner who last lived at this address in 2016. It was his name, so I presumed it maybe something we had bought together which was most of the mentioned items. Then, when the advisor asked for my address, he told me the address did not match the one I have lived in for the past 10years or even the one before! So this means, while continuing to have an item covered in HIS name being paid for from MY bank account, my ex partner has at some point rang and changed his address knowing this payment is made by myself not him. We have not spoken in 4 years so this is not something I can confront him with! I find it highly ridiculous that this has been able to happen! This would be nearly a £1,000 in payments for an item which I don't even own. Not only that, I do not even know what it is! There must be something they can do as the bank told me that this should be something they can sort. Using my bank details to cover something he owns should have been questioned when he rang to change the address on the account! The word 'fraud' springs to mind.

What I wish had happened

To at least be offered a refund of some sort! They wouldn't even tell me what I'd been paying for! Honestly I'm devastated.
